You've always claimed that when you were actually doing chemistry, the bit you hated most of all was the lab stuff. You were never, you said, a very good practical chemist.

And that's why your clothes are now covered in paint. Chemists, by and large, know how to manipulate sticky, unpleasant fluids without damaging themselves. (Sometimes the sticky, unpleasant fluids might be dangerous sticky, unpleasant fluids. Under these circumstances, auto-darwination becomes a distinct possibility).

Having said all that, I must confess I often find myself in the same situation that you currently find yourself in; and for exactly the same reasons as well.
