It is spring here, so it must be time to look at what I've been watching from the "Fall" season.

First up, is anybody else getting bored by Heroes? I followed the first season with slavish devotion. I was still interested for the second, truncated, season. But now I'm finding it difficult to even watch. It seems that if I stop watching it then somehow I will lose all my geed cred points.

On the other hand, I'm enjoying the second season of The Sarah Jane Adventures. After the great pilot, my interest in the first season waned until sooner than expected (by me) end of that season was the only thing that stopped me giving up on it. This new season seems a bit sharper somehow. I wonder if Sarah Jane's foray back into the Who world proper has something to do with it.

The superheroes in No Heroics make the sad types in The Tick look like Superman. What a sad bunch of losers - perfect TV material. Think Two Pints of Lager but with C grade superheroes instead of standard low IQ losers. Sadly, the pretty average quality of the execution lets the idea down.

Chuck has started its second season strongly. Its a critical point, the beginning of the second season. If a show can recapture and build on a strong beginning then it can be a winner. This feels like a show that has the potential for a long run.

I gather Terminator - The Sarah Connor Chronicles is in trouble. It isn't doing well in that second season pickup - at least in terms of ratings. Yet to me, it is just continuing where it left off when the strike cut it short. It will be interesting to see which way this one falls.

The other sophomore of note is Pushing Daisies. Its still entertaining, but the thinness of the premise is starting to show through. The stylised presentation makes full character engagement hard, so it has to rely on the cute story. It should avoid cancellation this time but somehow I don't think it will get picked up.

True Blood. Ahhh True Blood. The very best theme music ever. Great production values. Gritty. Sexy. Pretty. Yet I'm losing interest - I don't like the characters. It does make we want to go back and watch Buffy yet again though.

Then there were the shows that didn't make the first round cut. I.e. watched the pilot and then stopped. Ignoring a few vacant sitcoms, this time Merlin and Eleventh Hour gained this distinction.

Seems like not a very good crop overall. I should note that there are other shows in more mature seasons (for example NCIS & Family Guy) which I'm enjoying heaps, so I don't think it is just me being negative.

Of course you disagree. It wouldn't be opinion otherwise. But what have I missed?

Yeah, Heroes should have come up with another plot than save the future, straight away.

I actually look NCIS too, as the one cheesy show I do continue to watch. Interestingly, that one seems to have gotten a little less right-wing gung-ho than previously?

What did you miss?

Burn Notice.

I do like Burn Notice - technically, I think its a Summer show rather than a Fall one which is why I didn't include it here.

There's a second season of Burn Notice? Excellent!

I lasted out to the end of the truncated season of Heroes, then decided that was enough. Seems I made the right choice.

The second season of burn notice seems to have stopped at a fairly low episode count so I don't know if that means hiatus, cancelled or just cut short because of the aftereffects of the strike.
