2 for 2 and counting

threemonkeysGot a care package from Auntie Amazon yesterday. I wasn't quite 100% sure of these purchases, but so far no buyers remorse at all. Quite the contrary - woo hoo!
It has been quite a long time since I watched Daria but I had very good memories of a witty series. Sometimes memories let you down and memories of what was funny are particularly unreliable. The thing is also that most of the Daria series isn't available on DVD because of music licensing issues so all that is available are a couple of movie length editions. These were made late in the life of the show when my memory was that the show had got a bit wishy washy. So there was an element of worry. But no, Daria - Is It College Yet? is superb. It was all the sharp wit I remember and more. Score one success.
I really liked season 1 of Dead Like Me. But the reviews of the second season made me uneasy. They were positive but they also suggested a shift in the emphasis of the show. The reviewers liked that change, but their descriptions seemed to indicate a shift away from the very things I liked most about the show. Well, I'm one disk into the second season and its all great. The cool stuff is still there and the show is still great - there is a shift but it adds not subtracts. Rather a surprise as that is quite rare in TV. Score another success.
The only drawback - not enough hours to watch the rest of the disks tonight.
