We had our YA fiction panel at Phoenix last night. I was feeling so unmotivated going into it, but once things got going and the adrenaline got flowing it was good. The panel all did an excellent job - showing good knowledge of the subject area. They made all the points I was hoping would get made and lots of other good ones too. Not that I necessarily agreed with what they said, but that is good too - it means there is room for discussion.

The audience wasn't as disruptive as I feared but even after explicitly asking to keep their comments and questions until the later part of the session, they still interjected and heckled a fair bit. The problem is that we have run a lot of interactive sessions where audience participation is encouraged. These are good but it means that as a group, the club members have got into a habit. They now want to treat all sessions as completely interactive. This can be very hard when you want to run somethign with a bit of structure.
