A really shallow gene pool

I'm happy. Try to figure out which of these two items is the cause of my happiness:

1 - The Sir Julius Vogel award nominations are out and I have been nominated for "Best Fan Writing" for this blog.

2 - It was the Phoenix AGM tonight and after the elections I am no longer on the committee of the club.

Yes, it is the second one that pleases me. I feel like a big weight has been lifted off me.

The nominations aren't up on the SFFANZ web site (http://sffanz.sf.org.nz/) just yet but they should be there "real soon now". I have the info because the ballots were hot off the press at the Phoenix meeting last night. There are two stories published in ASIM in the short story section.

It is a nice thing if I want to brag about it, but I'm under no illusions that, as with the previous time, I'm just there to make up the numbers so there is the illusion of a race. As it is, there are only three nominations.
