There are new people on my flist. Welcome welcome welcome. I can even figure out who half of you are - even though I probably met most of you within the last few days. I lost count of the number of times I introduced myself twice - by name and then again as threemonkeys so folk could recognise me (or not). Perhaps there is something to this literal name approach.

Glad you're home safe. I know we probably won't see you again for a while now, given that your con clashes with Swancon next year (watch out for us over there in 2009 though!), but it was great to see you. I even knew who you were with BOTH names! :)

Alas, Conflux will be a bit beyond me, unless I receive some unforeseen financial windfall between now and then! If I wasn't so desirous of going to Swancon, it might have been doable, but I've got Swancon firmly in my sights now, and there's not much that can shake that conviction!

In retrospect you could consider the shutdown as a good thing. Having your party interrupted like that significantly adds to the legend. People forget ordinary parties but they won't forget this one in a hurry

In terms of the literal name approach I have to say that it was much easier the other day to give my blog name over the phone as Mark Deniz at live journal instead of Chuckle Monkey at live journal, especially as it was business related.

I like the imagery though:

"Hello I'm Mark"
"Nice to meeet you Mark, I'm Three Monkeys"

*chuckles*

Hope we do get to meet at Conflux! (even just for that moment... )

For what its worth, I was after an icon in a hurry when I set up this journal, so I clipped it from this Nick Kim cartoon (http://nearingzero.net/screen_res/nz005.jpg). I thought it captured my dazed approach to the world.

Yes, there was even a conversation about your double identity. I also remember the Tim Powers conversation - it eats my brain. I don't actually think there was ever a discussion about your fanzine however, because in truth I am interested. Are there any key details I should know?
