At a distance
Aug. 24th, 2005 07:33 pmI did a spot of telecommuting today. It isn't something I do very often, but circumstances dictated it was necessary today.
In a low work volume time today, it is bliss. By 9.30, I had all my emails answered, my documents updated and given feedback on everything sent to me for review. After that I could watch DVDs and occasionally check for new emails. Well it would be bliss if it wasn't for the reason for working from home in the first place viz recovering from ill health. Still a much nicer alternative than struggling in while feeling crappy and I could recover while not worrying about work.
I could wish I could justify more remote time - at times like this it seems like such a more productive and less stressful way to get through a day. When things are busier it would be a bit different - my job requires a lot of face to face contact. Also, I like the personal contact with my colleagues so it would have to be a part time only thing.
Nice to think about though - maybe the next job...
