I do not remember a year with as much fog as this year. Some of it has been newsworthy with all the airport closures - at least one of which was very important for me personally. But there have been lots of other foggy days too. The worst was my night drive back from Auckland in April where it was foggy for most of the trip from Pukekohe to Taihape - sometimes so heavy that I had to slow way down below the speed limit.

But tonight was something else again. I had a very pleasant evening out and started home through Woodridge/Newlands. The fog/low cloud was incredibly thick. It is a good thing that I knew the road because there was very little visibility and I was down to about 30K - on a strange road I would have had to stop. It wasn't much better on the last leg through Maungareki either.

Actually I like fog - as long as it isn't too cold and I don't have to drive in it - it has a whole snug blanket thing going for it. Now that I am home and warm, I can enjoy it.

I loved the fog while I was there. My grandparent's place is practically on the Manakau, so I had many gorgeous foggy mornings in the last week.

Though I'm glad it wasn't a problem when it came time to leave.

Perth could do with a bit more fog.
