They made a Dead Like Me movie. I didn't know it was coming. What a nice surprise. I even stopped watching the cricket to watch it. I have to say there was some trepidation though - the reunion sequel does not always work so well.

Sure it wasn't perfect. No Mandy Patinkin which they scripted around well. No Laura Harris which wasn't so good because they tried to replace her - I missed the old Daisy, Daisy Adair. Still overall it was pretty true to the spirit and was a nice coda for a series cut short. It made me wish for more.

More days should have stuff like this in them.

*not looking at the spoilery type things*

But how the hell did you see that? I was left to understand that it didn't air in the states for another ten days or so!

I didn't know that. Ummm - without admitting anything, this (http://www.mininova.org/tor/2250461) is a link I happened to visit today.

Additional info - it has already aired in Canada. So says a review on Amazon where I went to put in an order.

That would explain it then. I'm a little surprised though, I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere.

Thanks for that link.

I was a bit underimpressed with it, having also found it via similar means. It was nice to get new content but it felt like fanfic rather than cannon stuff. Daisy seemed wrong in more than just who played her. I got the impression they'd not really "got" Mason's character fully - he seemed dumber and more careless than usual. And I did several double takes trying to work out whether Reggie was played by the same person. I know it's a few years on but I didn't buy that she was still the dorky geeky kid, although her interactions hinged on that. Even Roxy seemed too easily taken in. And I really didn't like the Hudson character who was meant to be so important. Oh well.

I think they've contradicted history as well - didn't we already know how things go if you don't reap the soul you should? But Roxy struggles to keep a soul IN a bady at one point - we've never seen them trying to get out like that before.

But then, I always thought series 2 seemed to contradict too much of series 1. In 1 George's father is introduced as having a gay affair with a student, but that gets swept under the carpet and he's seeing a girl in 2. In 1 the whole reaping thing is new to George, but in 2 they claim she's been seeing gravelings all her life. But I loved the reveal of the bad guy with the rotten soul in 2, that redeemed it greatly.

I don't think the movie had a big redeeming feature, it was kinda fun, but just not what I'd hoped for.

I liked the comic book conceit, but couldn't work out why it was there.

I don't disagree with all the flaws, but as you say it has always been pretty loose structurally. But it has really been about George's growth as a person (ex-person) and the relationships she forges along that path. The movie continued that and for that reason I was able to let the little stuff slide and enjoy.

Oh!

Weirdly enough, I haven't known it wsa supposed to be a movie, and just before I read this, I was browsing through some sites (I aint admitting to anything either) to find some old episodes of dead like me, I had this sudden urge to re-watch them!

and now this, very strange and lovely :)

Its nice to get a surprise like this. Much better that all that waiting and building up the anticipation which only leads to let-down.
