Distraction

threemonkeysI'm off to the dentist soon to have some filling repair work done. I need some distraction. Something to make me happy/angry/sad or whatever. I can't find happy, but sad/angry is provided by slashdot who report that 'Galileo Was Wrong' is an inaugural conference to discuss the 'detailed and comprehensive treatment of the scientific evidence supporting Geocentrism, the academic belief that the Earth is immobile in the center of the universe'.
Aaaaaggh, how do people still think this. And yet they clearly do. It seems every week or so, another poll comes out displaying how ignorant a significant minority of the population can be. These are usually centered around the USA, but other countries aren't immune - I bet it wouldn't be hard to find a list of countries where things were worse.
Right, I now have a bunch of righteous indignation that should carry me through the morning. Its actually a worry that this is so easy to do - too much fuel for the rageaholics.

Hmmm.. yes, I believe medieval theologians over scientists... and sorry - HOW have they managed to keep the scientific 'proof' of geocentrism hidden for so long? Also, how could I have gotten through a science degree without finding out about this?
Maybe they should talk to Stephen Hawkings about it.

Awesome. Two authors.
One is a theologian who is just basing everything on the Bible.
The other? A physicist whose last experience in true academia was when he worked for a COMMUNITY COLLEGE in 1983. His research is obviously highly regarded, considering how his latest post is doing private tutoring.
