This is a very dangerous time of year for me. It is the time of year when Girl Guide biscuits are sold. The potential for large scale gluttony on extra delicious shortbread biscuits is huge. It does not matter how hard I try, I just can't ration them. Oh well, time to snack.
By the way, should I be worried that the two guides who just sold me a bunch of biscuits were not capable of adding $7.50 to $5.60? I'm guessing they were about 10 years old. Maybe I'm expecting too much.

Have fun and watch out for those evil biscuits!

Date: 2006-03-07 07:22 pm (UTC)I made the effort to give them exact change because I couldn't go through that look of bewilderment on their faces again. Perhaps because I was feeling a bit guilty since I was a bit mean waiting for them to come up with a total rather than just telling them. However I wanted them to be happy that they were charging me the right amount. I couldn't resist the impulse to teach so when I told them the amount, I stepped the stages of the mental calculation out to them (which had the side benefit of assuring them it was correct.)
