I started my "extended leave" a couple of hours ago. No work on Monday. No work for months. Potentially never back to the same work. I feels like nothing. It feels like just another weekend. As if I needed it, my employers gave yet another reason today not to be there. Yet I feel no different.

I wonder how I will feel tomorrow.

There are 66 books on my to-read shelf - plus the in-progress Mark Budz title. Special note for two Octavia Butler novels which have been hanging around on the shelf for a while and now have risen to the top of the pile.

It's not how you feel today or tomorrow.

It's how you feel on Monday when everyone else goes off to work. :-)

Indeed. I'm aiming for "relaxed".

Have fun!

You sure you didn't manage to convince them they should keep paying you so you don't tell everyone about all the illegal and immoral things your employers have done?
:)

Thanks - I intend to.

They make you check in your moral sensibilities when you walk in the door. :-)

Actually you might be surprised how much attention is paid to being legally and morally responsible by most of the teams in the bank. Of course I completely exclude marketing and senior managers from that. *no smiley*

So how are you finding it, now that you've had 2 days? :)

I still feel a bit disconnected from it - its still just like a long weekend. It will take me a while to wind down I guess.

So long as you have plenty of books to read I can't picture it being too bad, once you've adjusted :) And hopefully you'll be able to get a job in a better work environment later on.

Certainly lots of books and other things to do. There shoud be work out there - there are lots of jobs for people with my skillset. The trick is recognising what a good workplace looks like from the outside.
