Yes it was Marlborough. They actually defended it successfully once before losing it to Wellington, so it was actually whole 17 days (the loss was a mid-week game). Enough time to show it off at every school in the provence. :-)
The "genuinely competitive" comment was more about them, not long after, managing to get promoted to the first division and surviving there for 3 years.
