A few days without entering here and there seems to be quite a lot of trivial stuff to note. And one thing not so trivial.

It is cold. There is snow on them thar mountains.

I should not be allowed into Dymocks when there is a sale on. My to read shelf is actually bending slightly under the strain. Perhaps I should actually read something.

The Martinborough brewery seems to be shut down. Looking through the windows revealed dust over everything and a dead bird on the floor. The same trip over the hill also revealed that smoked salmon sausages at Alana Estates is very nice and that two visits to Tirohana winery makes you a regular customer and they give you a calendar.

In other alcohol related news, the Macs Brewery on the waterfront forces too much air into their delivery system - gassy beer - burp.

Pork bellies from Zibibbo are very fatty, very salty and very delicious. While there we also encountered a wine from Zibibbo grapes - very nice dessert wine it make too.

Three new TV series trialled and three rejected. Jekyll, Meadowlands and The Flight of the Conchords TV show all showed promise and an absence of American accents but none of them grabbed me either.

Saw a recruitment agent and agreed to be put forward for two positions. Gulp.

The job possibilities, not the pork bellies :).

The pork bellies gave me indigestion, the possibility of getting back into work is causing much more churning. It is only early days, but at least the process is started.

Eh, I've found that even cheap, chipboard shelves can take quite a lot of strain before they start to crack.

These shelves are actually rated for a pretty huge weight - they would probably even handle my weight. So the fact that the one shelf with all the books I have waiting to be read does now have a slight curve means that I have way way too many books awaiting my attention and I'm still buying more.

Didn't mind Meadowlands, haven't seen the others.

The reviews I've read of it seem to suggest it doesn't really go anywhere interesting, unfortunately.

Good luck with the two positions.

Thanks for the good wishes. As you say "didn't mind" Meadowlands - it just didn't grab my attention either. Of the three shows, I think Jekyll is the one with the most potential. In the light of a new day, I'm thinking that it is the one I should give a second chance.

Have you adopted my practice of buying by the shelf metre?

I have seen you in full buying frenzy. I am not even close to that. :-)

But it sounds like an apprenticeship to me, to me.

Enjoy the reading. My official backlog is now only 64 books.
