And now for something very very silly. Remember those cheap knockoffs of cheap tacky reading lights I was complaining about the other day. Well I found the real thing. To me they just look like they should be rocket nacelles for a spacecraft. To illustrate my point, I thought I'd soup up one of my remote controls.

First shot with flash

then without flash so you can see just how bright those lights are

Cool! But now whenever you misplace the remote you'll have to search the Delta Quadrant as well as under the sofa cushions.

Heh. Although that reference gives me this sudden urge to watch Galaxy Quest.

That is very cool! Now you will have to do a movie with that spaceship!

Perhaps I can set it to do battle with my cellphone.

If you look straight into those lights it feels like a weapon - as they say "so bright it hurts".

The joys of frequenting $2 shops. Of course if you want one that actually flies...

Yeah, but don't expect them to still be functioning after throwing your remote when NZ loses the yachting and the rugby and the cricket. Oh, that's right, we already lost the cricket.

It'll end in tears.

Y'know I really do hope we lose the yachting. Most of the local news providers are obsessed with it - much worse than the rugby. I hate to think how bad it would be if we won. Well actually I do know - I remember from last time and I don't want to go through that again.

OK - will stop ranting now.

The little boosters have already fallen off the remote - I clipped them to a Thunderbird 2 model which seems more secure.

I'm entirely in agreement on the yachting. The sycophancy (is there such a word) makes me sick. Maybe you could offer the boosters to Alinghi?

Drat. Thought I might have invented a word.

I did invent quirtopadiphafizartamyopioidaqualnagalateazorbalostrickamism. That is, the doctrine of inventing frivolous words for the purposes of irritating others. But it never caught on.

I can see why it isn't in general usage. I'd be a bit worried about definition 2 below though.
