20H in '07 - why not

threemonkeysI had a good chat with one of the organisers of Conspiracy 2 the '07 natcon. I know its a long way out but it was the first chance I had to find out what the intentions are. The first thing was that they have not decided when to have it, but are strongly leaning towards QB weekend (after originally indicating Easter). This suits me just fine and I suspect will make for a better con. From what I can tell, they are well down the track to having guests and hotel confirmed. I'm expecting announcements pretty soon with concrete details.
After this chat I took the time to look at the '06 natcon web site. I'm relieved to see that there has been some progress and the timing (QB weekend) and guests have been confirmed. It is a bit disturbing that there are still some questions around venue. Getting that sorted out is really the most important thing you have to do when organising a con. Everything else can be worked around but you have to have somewhere to hold the event. Still it is not like its completely up in the air, so I hope the preferred venue comes through for the organisers.
I also note with amusement that the Conclave site includes:
I'd like to contact Conclave ... to be on the ConCom.
