While on the subject of books by authors coming to Conjunction who happen to have autistic characters in their books, I read Dark Heart by Russell Kirkpatrick yesterday. To say I read it does not do justice to the whole consumed in one go experience, complete with the rejection of all other tasks on favour of it and the lost sleep because I wanted to finish it. That is pretty impressive engagement for a book that is basically a bunch of people bickering amongst themselves interspersed with occasional supernatural attacks. Oh and it has a donkey called Linda - I mean Lindha.

That's the best review so far.'[B]asically a bunch of people bickering amongst themselves interspersed with occasional supernatural attacks'. I like that. Would you mind if my publisher used it for publicity purposes?

Sorry about the sore arms.

I thought you would like the way I distilled all your complex plot turns and character interactions down into a single sentence. I now expect to see this quote on the front cover of the next edition.

Did I mention how completely utterly engrossed in it I was - it has been quite a long time since I was so completely engaged by a book. Also, I was wondering if you were in negotiations to build a tea house around Wai-o-tapu's geyser.

I think I will be buying this book at Conjunction.
I wonder if the author will autograph it for me?

Now that's an idea. I doubt there'd be any significant land or iwi issues, and I'm sure the Resource Consent would be a formality :)

I'm delighted you were engaged by it. Makes all those minutes of lonely slogging worthwhile.

Drat. Posted this under the wrong comment. I'm so good at this malarkey.

Mr. Littenz, I know the author and he's as irascible as they come. I suspect you'll need to ply him with fast food first.
