I have had the same mobile phone number for more than 10 years. But last year Vodafone changed the plan I was on. The old plan was perfect for my usage. So they discontinued it and put me on one that didn't suit so well. The only thing that can be said for the new plan is that it is less worse than the others that they now offer.
So I figure that the best bet is to move to prepay. But this is when it gets really annoying - you cannot transfer a number from a plan to prepay. You have to get a new number. That means undoing 10 years of telling people one number and updating them with a new number. That is so much hassle that I have been putting the move off for many months now. I'm sure they set things up like this purely for this effect.
