Some observations and questions...
Why do the reference colours on paint containers look so different to the actual paint? Dark brown comes out a sort of dirty pink. That will teach me to buy cheap fence paint from The Warehouse. Actually apart from the colour it seems pretty good quality.
Cheap plastic brushes from the $2 shop are perfectly fine for painting a fence
I am no better than I ever was at determining how much paint I will need for the first job. I always overestimate. I couldn't test the corollary that I underestimate the second job because I haven't prepped it yet.
Why, no matter how sunny the start of the day, does it start to cloud over and threaten rain just as I finish a job?
The neighbour's cat is a perfectly fine painting companion. The bees gathering nectar from the azalea belonging to the other neighbour are not so good.
It is surprisingly easy to paint blind - i.e. paint bits that you can either see or paint but not both at the same time.
"Washes clean in water" actually means what it says for the first time in my experience. Who woulda thunk it.
Why am I so much more sensitive to paint/thinner fumes than I was when I was younger.
