Universal Constant

Corrupt conservative administration, religious fundamentalists making policy, big business driving economic policy and universities and intellectual thought being repressed by restricting their funding. Not the world in a current piece of fiction but written over 25 years ago in The Infinitive of Go by John Brunner. Which goes to show two things. First that the current state of affairs in the United States has been building for a while. Second, that John Brunner has a good eye for what is happening in the world. This isn't one of his great works, quite the opposite really. But it does show how good his crystal ball was.
