No more unwanted rubbish in the mailbox
Oct. 9th, 2010 05:03 pmSince I have already mentioned the local body elections before, I should just say that they are now over (more or less). I can report that Lower Hutt now has a new Mayor. I don't really know much about Ray Wallace, but even if he is a pompous, self-serving, dissembling idiot, he is still going to be better then the last guy. Here is hoping that the new mayor doesn't regard that as a target.

Date: 2010-10-09 11:06 pm (UTC)We got Len Brown, so at least we have someone who might actually try to make public transport a viable option for Auckland, rather than just building more motorways... because, despite the fact that "you've got to build bypasses" if people carry on the way the Right Wingers want to, the people who live in Auckland will have to move underground to make way for all the roads.
Just unwanted rubbish on our councils...
Date: 2010-10-09 11:16 pm (UTC)Seems like a decent result for Auckland in general.

Date: 2010-10-09 11:30 pm (UTC)Yeah, I am hopeful about Auckland... doesn't make me want to stay here, but is good to have potential for goodness, rather than be steaming along a road of bad.

Date: 2010-10-09 11:34 pm (UTC)My sister and I were laughing about the fact that if John Banks and John Key had their way, Aucklanders would have to go the way of the LA Lizard people... although it isn't something to laugh about really... http://obscurantist.com/texts/la-times-lizard-peoples-catacomb-city-hunted/
