I saw this line buried in an article on stuff:
"Hollywood studios have largely abandoned hand-drawn animation, instead pouring millions of dollars into developing new computer-animated features: about 25 such films are scheduled for release by the end of 2007."
Time after time you see this from Hollywood. Somebody does something innovative and creates a public impact. They also make money. A few others follow on and also make money. Then everybody drops everything to follow on - only they don't really understand what they are doing. They lose money. They cheapen the quality of the original work. I suppose you could say that if too many people jump on the bandwagon, all you do is break the wagon.
This behaviour is hardly restricted to mass market entertainment. Just look at the property market. Or worse, the share market.
Why? Lack of analytical thought by the people involved*. Herd instinct. Greed. The usual suspects.
Ahhh. Nothing like a good rant to bring the weekend to a close.
* a.k.a. "stupidity"
