Service call

threemonkeysSky digital is out of operation. No big deal tonight. The only thing I wanted to watch (SGA) is on one of the two broadcast channels I can get properly.
The problem is with the satellite. I just can't get the image of the service guy being called up - "hey Joe we need you at up at geosync asap - there's a problem at Optus 1".
But I really do wonder just how you fix even the most minor problem on a satellite that can't be fixed with a remote rebood or reload. What if the problem is with the signal reception. You can't exactly wander over and hit the hardware reset button or plug in a loose wire. Real engineering required there. And real testing.
