Check out the userpic I used today. It is from Wonderfalls - a TV series cancelled after just 4 episodes were screened in the States and 13 made in all. As far as I'm concerned, it is one of the most wonderful pieces of television made ever. I raise this because some keen person has assembled a list shows of cancelled during the season just coming to an end. I've sampled about 20% of this list at some point, but nothing stood out as worth a lament or even a sigh. I have only watched one of them all the way through and that was more bloody mindedness knowing that it was coming to an end. Can you guess which one?

Did I miss anything? Is there some other Wonderfalls or Firefly level gem that I have missed?

Yep. (http://www.eonline.com/gossip/kristin/detail/index.jsp?uuid=a76b5f00-d168-4485-a1c1-10b4436fe7f8)
I got several episodes in as it seemed one of the strongest of what was on offer, but I don't think I'm the right demographic for the show. :-)

It got a full season - in fact I think there are still episodes that will be aired so there is always the possibility of a ratings lift and it getting picked up and/or a proper conclusion.

Three seasons, actually. Watching TV in the US must be hard - it seems to be normal to find programs have switched their timeslots or been halted mid-series for no particularly good reason. At least in NZ they normally screen the whole season in one go.

This might be a case where local TV has actually messed us around like that. According to TV.com and eztv the current season in the states is season 2. Local TV are quite capable of breaking up a season and then telling us that there were two seasons when there was only one. They just don't do it as much as the American networks.

Actually the American cable networks, unlike the broadcast guys, are very good in terms of show times - a show like Dexter or Weeds plays right through a season without interruption.

Wonderfalls was one of the best series...it stayed with me for ages after watching it.

I never get what makes a series get shut of of not, I do know however, that i always seem to like the "wrong" series according to the tv-stations.

Firefly, wonderfalls etc etc, the list is LONG on series that just didn't "hit".

But you're the first other person I've heard talking about Wonderfalls before...I mean, lots of people talk about shows like firefly, but Wonderfalls..most people have never heard of it. Sadly.

I've done my best to evangalise Wonderfalls - I've lost count of the number of people I lent the DVDs to. I usually followed it up with Dead Like Me.

I also really liked Canterbury's Law, sad to see it go.

I *tried* to watch Cashmere Mafia and Womens Murder Club
Meh to both

Couple of others that I also tried and hated ... kinda didn't mind Men In TRees if nothing else was on and i had nothing better to do

I didn't try those two - they had the look of bad Sex and the City clones.

Some terrible titles in there...

I watched the pilot of Jericho and found it really insipid, otherwise no.

I did want to see Shark for the James Woods love!

Jericho was the one I watched all the way through hoping it would get better. It did - a little. But I wasn't sad to see it go.

James Wood in Shark was enough to get me to watch it a bit and he was entertaining until it got to court and then my dislike of courtroom action took over and that was it.

*nods*

I'm on the hunt for Wonderfalls at the moment and will let you know when I've watched it...

I still miss my Carnivale, although that did make two seasons.

When watching Wonderfalls, a tip - keep watching Caroline Dhavernas' (Jaye) eyes. I think she has the most expressive peepers on TV.

I gave up on Jericho after about three episodes - conspiracies and counter conspiracies, and not a likable character in sight.

There were characters that were just engaging enough to keep me watching. But every week I told myself I should stop watching but then I did a "just one more". Then it got cancelled so i thought "might as well see it to the end".

Wonderfalls started out well but got almost unwatchably twee after the first half dozen or so episodes. I think I'd have canceled it too...

I was given the compete DVD set as a present.

Fox actually made the decision to cancel Wonderfalls before it aired and when only a few episodes were in the can. It was aired in the run up to a presidential election and speculation was that it didn't display the proper political/sexual/religious attitudes to help a republican get back in the white house.
