OK, I admit it. I'm a total sucker for pop culture references in TV shows. Well references that I get anyway. I've mentioned The Middleman a couple of times before and since its first season is coming to an end, perhaps its time for example of why it hits that particular button for me.

So in the most recent episode there was:
A NASA Tech called Mr Lethbridge-Stewart
A Zygon rated quarantine facility
The Peri Perpugilliam treaty
The line "did your boss just call you on your watch about a pan-galactic gargle blaster?"

These are just examples and I probably missed many more than I caught. Not that I expect you to necessarily catch these. Last week it was Die Hard references.

I feel ignorant, I only got 2 out of the 4 on your list. Now -- which two do you think I missed?

Of the three Dr Who references and the obvious HHGTTG one I'm thinking that the Zygons (from the story Terror of the Zygons) and Peri (aka Perpugilliam Brown) a companion to the 6th doctor are the more obscure ones.

Don't know the show, but I LOVE the refferances. There was a brilliant one on "The Bill" a UK cop show. The Police's radio communications had broken down and they were either phoning in, or simply roaming the streets looking for trouble. Exaserpated, Inspector Derrick Monroe turns and says "In case you hadn't noticed, we got rid of Tardis' YEARS ago!" and stormed off.

Of all the DW stuff, the Tardis (along with Daleks) are really well ingrained in the public consciousness. You gotta love it.
