I have this feeling that I have been buying too many DVDs. A little while ago ago I resolved to keep my buying down to a minimum. The shelf is getting too crowded. So why do I have seven more DVD titles sitting in Amazon shopping carts at this very minute. Must - - stop - - buying - - DVDs *gasps*.

Wait, didn't I just complain that I have too many books on my to read shelf. I detect a theme here. I am going to go delete stuff out of those shopping carts now.

I sympathise, I really do. Well - you've seen my library; and while I don't (yet) have as many DVDs as you, they are definitely creeping up. There's a sort of Parkinson's law of books and DVDs: they expand to fill (or rather overfill) the shelf space available to them.

So don't empty your shopping carts yet - I'm sure I saw a little bit of space left on your shelf. If you empty your cart, you are breaking the law!!

I bought far too many books again.

I brought about 5kg of paper back with me.

I'm halfway through Mary Gentle's 1610: A Sundial in a Grave and have George Dyson's Project Orion up next.

Sadly not.

I saw that she's at the other end of the Manakau to Blockhouse Bay - I was very busy doing the family supporting stuff while in Auckland.

So really, my holiday consisted of cooking and cleaning for my Grandfather, with at least 2 visits per day to the nursing home to see my grandfather.
