Dollhouse made its debut last night. I was expecting there to be vast amounts of comment around the wires. But no - a bit here and there among the likely suspects but not much at all.

It could be the friday night factor, but rather I think all the Whedon fans are in shock. They don't know what to say about it. It didn't exactly suck. Not quite. But it was missing something. A Joss Whedon show without all the witty banter is like a broken pencil - pointless.

But then I was thinking about it a bit and realised that we shouldn't be thinking of it as a Joss Whedon show. Its an Eliza Dushku show. It was designed as a vehicle to show off her *ahem* skills. It certainly sets the expectation levels a lot lower if you think of it that way.

I'll keep watching and hope to be surprised.

Seeing as they basically stole the concept from Gerry Anderson's Joe 90, I'm not expecting much. Haven't seen it yet, and one of the reviews from friends thought it was pretty good, but could have been better with just a little effort, and another thought it was complete crap.

Note post title - its funny, there are hardly any original ideas on TV but this one is quite unusual so everybody makes the association with the only other show that uses it. Actually, I think its probably closer to Alias in overall structure with the Joe 90 element just a smallish point of difference.

I think its too early to call it on this one yet, but it isn't a great start. Better then Tru Calling though.
