I'm not having much luck with the booksellers. There are two local bookstores where the buyers are SF fans and have autonomy over what purchases they make. Given that I thought they would be sympathetic to the idea of ASIM and its like.
However, in both cases when I gently floated the idea, the person in question started to look nervous and getting evasive. You could see that they didn't want to say a blunt "no" to me but equally didn't want to carry such items as stock. Sigh.
In one case I managed to persuade the person concerned to have a read, so there is hope yet.
There is still the prospect of promoting within the local SF clubs but that might take a while.
Wow - thank you so much - I'm very appreciative :)
We have the same thing here, and it becomes a matter of symapthetic folk in the bookstores. I can send a little package of fresh ASIMs, if you want things to tout around - and we have some flyers saying we have good reviews from Asimovs and Tangent, for example.
Truth be told, I'm not very optimistic of any immediate success. There is not much awareness of this type of publication over here. The used to be but it seems to have been lost. Most of my activity will just be to make people aware that things like ASIM etc even exist. Once that happens then you might get some sales.
Flyers might be useful to this end - if you can send them electronically then I could print them here. Email me to negotiate formats etc. I might even be able to score a free ad in the Phoenix (http://www.phoenixsf.blogspot.com/) club magazine using the flyer as a basis.
I am a large object with great inertia - I barely notice pushing :-) I should add that I am happy to help you and ASIM for your own sake but you should know that I also have a personal agenda here to raise the consciousness of the local fan community. In this case, these work together to motivate me.

If I'm being too pushy, slap me. :)
