Fun of the variety that's not
Apr. 13th, 2005 06:53 pmI should be going to a Phoenix meeting tonight. From some schedule of upcoming events I had got the impression that this week was to be devoted to a post-con debrief and ideas session as we have done before. It must have been a seriously outdated schedule. What is scheduled for tonight is a scavenger hunt using digital photography. I gather it is fun for the active types but not really my cup of prune juice. Especially when the weather has taken a turn for the nasty and cold.
The thing is I really had quite a few things I wanted to say. Good stuff about keeping to the core fan vision and not getting too carried away carried away with the ephemera - keeping a sensible balance. Deep insights about where to find new people for fandom out of Universities. Eloquent raves about how good an academic stream at a con is and how academia can help fandom. Deep passion about how we can do some much more in cooperation with various Australian groups. Laments into the poor state of 'zine production. Heck I might have even managed to persuade a few people to go look at the ASIM web site.
Oh well, I suppose it can all wait for the next PIG. At least there will be chocolate there.
(In case anybody is reading this, PIG is the Port (and chocolate) Ingestion Group - a monthly social get-together for Phoenix members. Oink)
