As I was leaving the house this morning I contrived to drop my cellphone about 10 feet onto concrete and it went flying in pieces. To my relief those pieces fitted together and despite a couple of dings it still appears to work. So I headed round to [livejournal.com profile] lobelet's place to pick him up for a trip over the hill to Martinborough. I was looking for an excuse for a drive to get back in the habit - too many days in the garden and driving become just that bit harder and I have a long drive in a couple of weeks. [livejournal.com profile] lobelet has never been to the Wairarapa, so a plan was formed. The plan came together pretty well. It involved a visit to Martinborough Vineyard where I topped up my dessert wine stocks and a meal at the Martinborough wine centre where we could sample beer from the local brewery and have a nice meal with which [livejournal.com profile] lobelet could have extra caterpillar with his salad.

Back home I finished watching the DVDs of Blakes 7 season 4. I have not watched this season for many years and I have it in my mind that this season isn't as well regarded as the others. But I really enjoyed it. It does have a different energy than the other seasons - more relaxed and prepared to have more fun with the show. These DVDs have a much better set of extras that previous seasons. The beeb are not exactly good at extras, so it was a welcome surprise.

Good day.

You semi-retired people get all the fun!

All I get to do is delete 10,000,000 files (whee!)

Oh and later today I might get to do this:

cd /
rm -rf *

But I better make damned sure I'm on the right box.

I don't know about all the fun - I always wanted to do rm -rf but never had the opportunity. Well not without getting into a lot of trouble anyway :-)

I've done it twice.

Once because I wanted to see what it felt like (it felt good) and once because it was 4.50pm and I wanted to go home for tea and I was in a hurry.

Guess what? I didn't get home for tea. It was a hell of a good test of my client's backup procedures (fortunately they had good backups).

Great day. Lousy caterpiller. Perfect opportunity to buy the wedding present wine. Eighteen months ago (as we speak) Robin and I were give $100 (Australian) as a wedding present and explicitly told to buy NZ wine with it. So that's what I did.

Robin thought it was a great idea and insisted on a photograph of the bottles so we could send it to the person who gave us the present.

A wonderful day, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
