Boy am I glad he ditched 7, 8 and 9
May. 22nd, 2005 10:51 pmWent to see SW ep 3 tonight.
OK its way way better than the previous two, but then bubonic plague could be said to be better than ebola. It even has a coherent story - its pretty thin and we all know the ending but at least it hangs together. What it is however is visually spectacular. Just lots and lots of special effects and lots of location shots. Very flashy. Yet for me, no sense of wonder. Compared to other flashy trash like Chronicles of Riddick or Van Helsing the shots and effects for all their number failed to create any sense of awe. I think because there wasn't really anything new - just lots and lots of what had been done before. Its the same for all the numerous fight scenes - they were flashy but nothing really new.
I think I only went to see the prequel second trilogy because of the importance of the first movies to the history of cinema. Really I am sort of glad they are out of the way once and for all and I do not have to bother with them again.
